Effects of Postharvest Pretreatments on Vaselife of Cut Rose Mary de Vor


Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of the postharvest pretreatments on the vaselife of cut rose ¢¥Mary de Vor¢¥, tap water, 3% sucrose solution, successive treatment with 3 mM Al©ü(SO©þ)©ý solution and 3% sucrose solution, and 0.3% Chrysal RVB treatment were compared. Cut rose pretreated in the 3 mM Al©ü(SO©þ)©ý solution and 3% sucrose solution extended vaselife 1.3 times over that of control and showed on enhanced flower opening, comparatively less neck bending, and little variation of fresh weight. Cut rose pretreated in the tap water showed verylow for it was not beneficial for flower opening degree but a little prolonged vaselife, less bent-neck, and higher fresh weight as compared to control. were noted Cut rose pretreated in the 0.3% chrysal RVB solution was the worst vaselife, and flower opening degree but caused severe bent neck and notable decrease in fresh weight.
